Premier Mike Rann today welcomed ‘A New Car Plan for a Greener Future’, the Federal Government’s 13 year $6.2 billion plan for the Australian automotive industry.Included in the plan is a new, better-targeted, greener assistance program, the Automotive Transformation Scheme (ATS) that will provide $3.4 billion to the industry from 2011 to 2020.In addition to that will be the $1.3 billion Green Car Innovation Fund.Mr Rann says the Federal Government’s plan will assist the Australian car industry to become a globally competitive source of fuel efficient, low emissions cars. “South Australia is one of the two main car manufacturing States – ...
