Lee Kilsby, owner of GreenLeap, a company promoting and selling planet saving products, was kind enough to respond to a few of our questions.
We asked her what made her want to start selling and providing environmentally friendly products. She told us that she had always been passionate about the environment and through her website and company, Green Leap, she thought she could help educate individuals about the importance of sustainability, and also how to raise funds for conservation initiatives.
Full business details can be found in the Eco Listings.
Green Leap Difference
Susan: So Lee, what makes your store different from other online eco stores that are around today?
Lee: Well, we have a very strict policy in regards to the products that we carry. Wherever possible they use Australian made, certified organic, fair trade certified, 100% biodegradable and recycled items. If a product doesn’t meet the criteria, then we reassess its value.
Conservation at Home
Susan: Ok, as a consumers, what sort of products do you sell that can help make a difference at home.
Lee: Green Leap has an extensive range of household energy saving light bulbs and we even source commercial lighting upon request. Green Leap’s stock includes the dimmable tornado bulb from Philips and compact genie globe.
We also stock the very popular and durable envirosax range. This is an Australian made range of environmentally friendly bags that come in a variety of colours and are made from bamboo and organic cotton. Both fashionable and functional and even more environmentally friendly than the 'green bags' that are avaliable at most supermarkets.
Susan: Those are some fantastic products there Lee. Those product lines take care of electricity reduction as well as all those plastic bags, but what about reducing water usage? Summer is fast approaching and our dams are slowly drying up again. I'm sure in a few weeks the press will start talking about water restrictions.
Lee: Water is our most precious resource and Green Leap’s range of water saving products help people to conserve as much as possible. We have pop-up water buckets for use in the shower. It is amazing just how much water you can reuse if you collect it for watering the garden. We also have grey-water irrigation systems, rainwater tanks and storm water diverters. All of which help reduce and reuse our water resources.
The full range of products can be found at under the water saving section of our website.
Susan: That is a very comprehensive collection of products for saving at different points of the water cycle.
Environmentally Friendly Baby Gifts
Susan: On another topic for our home consumers, my niece just had a baby and I was thinking about the upcoming holidays as well. What kind of products do you have for babies?
Lee: Ah, funny you should ask Susan, baby gifts are Green Leap’s specialty! We stock an extensive range of baby products and gifts which include certified organic clothing, skin care products and toys. We even have 100% biodegradable nappies, which made me breathe a sigh of relief. I really dislike the thought of tons and tons of disposable nappies piling up in the landfill, even worse than the thought of having to wash cloth nappies. These fantastic biodegradable ones can be found on our website.
Eco Pet Products
Susan: Great, now that we have our youngest generation covered, what about our much loved pets? I indulge my cats Isis and Ling too much, but they enjoy it. Can we get them greening the planet too?
Lee: We do have a wide range of cat products including organic catnip, and toys and beds that are made from recycled materials. Just have a quick look at the pet section of our website. We also have 100% bio degradable doggy bags too for when you take your dog out for walks.
Susan: It's much like disposable nappies not being able to break down in landfills We don't want our pet dogs adding to that as well.
Special Discounts for Readers
Susan: Lastly, do you have any discounts for your customers and our readers?
Lee: Infact we do, Green Leap has discounted its sustainable jewelry collection by 10%. The Dew jewelry collection is by Australian designer Ben Manning who is renowned for his commitment to sustainable production and design.
Susan: Thats great Lee, our readers will appreciate the discount just in time for Chirstmas too.
